Celebrating our 39th Year!

The Office of Human Affairs, established as a community action agency in 1965, provides many diversified service programs designed to assist low-income residents. The mission of OHA is to plan, develop and implement programs that foster self-sufficiency through educational, social, physical and economic development. This is accomplished by supporting, supplementing and coordinating efforts with other agencies to develop programs, and to offer a variety of services designed to assist low-income persons in their endeavors to improve their quality of life and to become self-sufficient. For thirty-six years, OHA has provided various programs funded by federal, state and local sources to promote self-sufficiency among less fortunate residents of Newport News, Hampton and Poquoson, Virginia.
